zwf NADP(+)-dependent glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase [ Escherichia coli str. K-12 substr. MG1655 ]

Gene ID: 946370, updated on 26-Mar-2025

Summary

Official Symbol
zwf
Official Full Name
NADP(+)-dependent glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase
Primary source
ECOCYC:EG11221
Locus tag
b1852
See related
ASAP:ABE-0006171
Gene type
protein coding
RefSeq status
PROVISIONAL
Organism
Escherichia coli str. K-12 substr. MG1655 (strain: K-12, substrain: MG1655)
Lineage
Bacteria; Pseudomonadota; Gammaproteobacteria; Enterobacterales; Enterobacteriaceae; Escherichia
Also known as
ECK1853
Summary
Residues 199-203 of zwf encode a NNWDN peptide involved in ChpA(MazF) toxicity that is likely converted to NNWNN by AsnA; a zwf deletion prevents NNWNN activity (Kolodkin-Gal, 2007). [More information is available at EcoGene: EG11221]. A null mutation in the zwf gene encoding glucose 6-phosphate-1-dehydrogenase does not affect the growth rate significantly. [More information is available at EcoCyc: EG11221].
