Based on CedA binding proteins identified, we hypothesize that CedA plays a crucial and multifaceted role in cell cycle regulation and specific pathways in which CedA participates may include transcription and energy metabolism. However, further validation through in-vitro and in-vivo experiments is necessary.

  2. CedA may be involved in the reactivation of DnaA suffering inactivation. In particular, Glu32 in CedA is an essential residue for cell division reactivation and may interact with the DnaA molecule, directly or indirectly.

  3. CedA shows structural similarity to a family of DNA-binding proteins which interact with double-stranded DNA via a three-stranded beta-sheet, suggesting that CedA may be a DNA-binding protein.
