Summary
MltA cleaves the glycosidic bonds between the N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine residues in murein. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG13085]. MltA is one of six (along with MltB, MltC, MltD, EmtA, and Slt70) major lytic endotransglycosylases expressed in Escherichia coli. [More information is available at EcoCyc: G7457].
