Summary
Enables ribonucleoprotein complex binding activity. Involved in endonucleolytic cleavage to generate mature 3'-end of SSU-rRNA from (SSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, LSU-rRNA). Located in cytoplasm and nucleolus. Part of 90S preribosome. Used to study chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Orthologous to human TSR1 (TSR1 ribosome maturation factor). Preferred Names
small subunit rRNA maturation protein TSR1
NP_010223.1
  • Protein required for processing of 20S pre-rRNA in the cytoplasm; associates with pre-40S ribosomal particles; inhibits the premature association of 60S subunits with assembling 40S subunits in the cytoplasm; similar to Bms1p; relocalizes from nucleus to cytoplasm upon DNA replication stress
