Chickens possessing the BB genotype of CAPN1 showed significantly heavier body weight at 6 wk of age and guanine content at 4 wk of age, compared with those of the other genotypes. In addition, high expression levels of the CAPN1 and ADSL genes were detected in the breast muscle at 2 wk of age.
