Summary
This genomic element is located in a 5' intron of the Hebp1 (heme binding protein 1) gene on chromosome 6. It was predicted to be a cis-regulatory module (preCRM) based on conservation of consensus binding motifs for the essential erythroid transcription factor GATA1, and on distinctive alignment patterns that yielded a positive regulatory potential score. It was validated as a functional enhancer by reporter assays in stably transfected murine erythroleukemia (MEL) cells. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2016]

RefSeqs maintained independently of Annotated Genomes

These reference sequences exist independently of genome builds. Explain

These reference sequences are curated independently of the genome annotation cycle, so their versions may not match the RefSeq versions in the current genome build. Identify version mismatches by comparing the version of the RefSeq in this section to the one reported in Genomic regions, transcripts, and products above.
