Comparative transcriptomic analysis of the response of CUG-clade Candida species to phagocytosis

(Submitter supplied) Pathogenic Candida fungi are a leading cause of opportunistic, hospital-associated bloodstream infections with high mortality rates, typically in immunocompromised patients. Several species, including C. albicans, the most prevalent cause of infection, belong to the monophyletic CUG clade of yeasts. Much is known about the interaction of C. albicans with innate immune cells, which are crucial for controlling infection. more...

Transcriptional profiling of strains with different levels of Mrr1 activity in Candida lusitaniae (RNA-Seq)

(Submitter supplied) We sequenced mRNA from U04, U04 mrr1Δ and four strains complemented with different MRR1 alleles in the U04 mrr1Δ strain background to define the Mrr1 regulon in C. lusitaniae and assess how Mrr1 activity effects expression in three conditions: control, diamide and hydrogen peroxide.

Diversity of cytosine methylation across the fungi tree of life

(Submitter supplied) Cytosine methylation is a conserved base modification, but explanations for its interspecific variation remain elusive. Only through taxonomic sampling of disparate groups can unifying explanations for interspecific variation be thoroughly tested. Here we leverage phylogenetic resolution of cytosine DNA methyltransferases (DNA MTases) and genome evolution to better understand widespread interspecific variation across 40 diverse fungal species. more...

Regional centromeres in Candida lusitaniae lack pericentromeric heterochromatin (ChIP-seq)

(Submitter supplied) The goal of this study is to identifiy centromere locations of Candida lusitaniae through ChIP-Seq analysis. We applied ChIP-Seq on two centromere proteins: Cse4 and Mif2. After peak calling, we identified one peak in each of the 8 supercontigs of Candida lusitaniae which may represent the potential centromere location.
