Transcription analysis of GW and SFZ lychees under lychee downy blight stress

(Submitter supplied) Lychee (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) is a popular fruit worldwide. Lychee downy blight, caused by Peronophythora litchii (P. litchii), is one of the major diseases in lychee. In this study, we conducted a P. litchii infection experiment on the lychee leaves of GW and SFZ, and analyzed the mRNA in the treated leaves using transcriptome RNA sequencing technology. Our research will provide a preliminary basis for the prevention and control of lychee downy blight.

Integrated Whole Transcriptome Profiling and Bioinformatics Analysis for researching lychee downy blight (RNA-Seq)

(Submitter supplied) Non coding RNA (ncRNA), such as miRNA, lncRNA and circRNA, has been found to play an important role in the mechanism of plant defense against pathogens. Lychee downy blingt is the main disease of litchi fruit, inflorescence and leaf, which seriously affects the yield of lychee. In this study, we carried out a P.litchii infection experiment on lychee fruits and leaves, and the mRNA and ncRNA in the treated fruits and leaves were analyzed by whole-transcriptome RNA sequencing technology. more...

Genome-wide identification and expression analysis of MADS-box family genes in litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) and their involvement in floral organogenesis II

(Submitter supplied) Litchi possesses unique flower morphology and adaptive reproduction strategies. Although previous attention has been intensively devoted to the mechanisms underlying its floral induction, the molecular basis of flower organ development remains largely unknown. MADS-box genes are promise candidates for this due to their significant roles in various aspects of inflorescence and flower organogenesis. Here, we present a detailed overview of phylogeny and expression profiles of 101 MADS-box genes that were identified in litchi. more...

Coupling of microRNA-directed phasiRNA generation with alternative splicing in small RNA-mediated gene silencing

(Submitter supplied) Purpose:We aimed to characterize genome-widely the miRNA population and phasiRNA-generating genes/loci in litchi (Litchi chinensis). Multiple high throughput sequencing strategies, including sRNA sequencing, parallel analysis of RNA ends (PARE) sequencing, and strand-specific RNA-seq, were applied in combination with thorough bioinformatics analyses using a variety of computational methods.

MicroRNAs and targets in senescent fruit of litchi during ambient storage and post cold storage shelf-life.

(Submitter supplied) Background: Litchi has high commercial value for its bright color and rich nutrients. However, it deteriorates with the pericarp turning brown within 1-2 days after harvest. The factors that mediate litchi fruit senescence are complicated. MicroRNAs act as negative regulators involving in almost every physiological process. To understand the mechanism of litchi fruit senescence and pericarp browning from miRNA level, five small RNA libraries and a degradome library from the pericarp of litchi fruit stored at ambient and post cold shelf-life were sequenced. more...
