Pathogenic for Hereditary breast ovarian cancer syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NM_007294.3(BRCA1):c.4485-?_4986+?del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exons 14-15 of the BRCA1 gene. This creates a premature translational stop signal and is expected to result in an absent or disrupted protein product. Loss-of-function variants in BRCA1 are known to be pathogenic. A similar deletion has been reported in the literature in patients with breast and/or ovarian cancer (PMID: 12203994, 24825132). This variant is also known as a deletion of exons 15-16 in the literature. For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
