Pathogenic for Glycogen storage disease type VIII — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000023.11:g.(?_18929208)_(18983952_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exons 1-13 of the PHKA2 gene, which includes the initiator codon. The 5' end of this event is unknown as it extends beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. The 3' boundary is likely confined to intron 13 of the PHKA2 gene. This is expected to result in an absent or disrupted protein product. This variant has been observed in an individual affected with GSD IXa (Invitae). Loss-of-function variants in PHKA2 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 7711737, 10330341). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
