Pathogenic for Familial cancer of breast — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000002.12:g.(?_214728676)_(214809569_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the BARD1 gene has been identified. Loss-of-function variants in BARD1 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 20077502, 21344236). The boundaries of this event are unknown as they extend beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with breast cancer (PMID: 20842729). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
