This suggests that exon 28 is critical for DNAH5 protein function and that other disruptions at this position may also be pathogenic. This variant has been reported as in combination with another DNAH5 variant in an individual affected with primary ciliary dyskinesia (Invitae). This variant is an in-frame deletion of the genomic region encompassing exons 25-28 of the DNAH5 gene. It preserves the integrity of the reading frame but is predicted to remove 253 amino acids from the middle of the gene.
