Pathogenic for Neurofibromatosis, type 1 — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000017.11:g.(?_31095030)_(31374155_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the NF1 gene has been identified. Loss-of-function variants in NF1 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 10712197, 23913538). The boundaries of this event are unknown as they extend beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. Isolated whole-gene deletions of NF1 have not been reported in the literature. However, larger copy number events that include this gene have been reported (PMID: 8116612, 8931693, 9643287, 22837079, 25480383, 25541118). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
