Pathogenic — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000001.11:g.(?_215837981)_(215838113_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is an out-of-frame deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon 47 of the USH2A gene. This is expected to create a premature translational stop signal and result in an absent or disrupted protein product. Similar deletions of exon 47 have been observed in individuals affected with Usher syndrome type 2 and retinitis pigmentosa (PMID: 22135276, 28041643). Loss-of-function variants in USH2A are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 10729113, 10909849, 20507924, 25649381). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
