NC_000015.9:g.(?_72640007)_(72643595_?)dup was classified as Uncertain significance for Tay-Sachs disease by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): In summary, the available evidence is currently insufficient to determine the role of this variant in disease. Therefore, it has been classified as a Variant of Uncertain Significance. A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with Tay-Sachs disease (Invitae). In at least one individual the data is consistent with the variant being in trans (on the opposite chromosome) from a pathogenic variant. This variant results in a copy number gain of the genomic region encompassing exon(s) 6-10 of the HEXA gene. While the exact position of this variant cannot be determined from the data, sub-genic copy number gains are generally in tandem (PMID: 25640679). This variant is predicted to be in-frame, and likely preserves the integrity of the reading frame.
