Pathogenic for Bardet-Biedl syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000007.13:g.(?_33423258)_(33427776_?)dup, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant results in a copy number gain of the genomic region encompassing exons 18-19 of the BBS9 gene. While the exact position of this variant cannot be determined from this data, sub-genic copy number gains are generally in tandem (PMID: 25640679) and may result in an absent or disrupted protein product. This variant has been observed in combination with another BBS9 variant in an individual, affected with Bardet-Biedl syndrome (Invitae). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. Loss-of-function variants in BBS9 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 16380913).
