Pathogenic for Duchenne muscular dystrophy — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000023.11:g.(?_31729611)_(31774212_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon(s) 51-52 of the DMD gene. This variant would be expected to be in-frame, preserving the integrity of the reading frame. A similar copy number variant has been observed in individuals with dystrophinopathies, such as Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy as well as in individuals with dilated cardiomyopathy (PMID: 10480348, 17259292, 23914114, 32169422, 33238405, Invitae). In at least one family, an unaffected male was found to have a similar copy number variant as a relative with Becker muscular dystrophy (PMID: 29984652). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
