Pathogenic for Deficiency of UDPglucose-hexose-1-phosphate uridylyltransferase — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000009.12:g.(?_34646586)_(34651238_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the GALT gene has been identified. The boundaries of this event are unknown as the deletion extends beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. Similar deletions of the entire GALT sequence have been reported in the literature in individuals affected with galactosemia (PMID: 17079880, 15841485, 11286505). Loss-of-function variants in GALT are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 22944367). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
