Pathogenic for Hypohidrotic X-linked ectodermal dysplasia — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000023.10:g.(?_68836133)_(69255479_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the EDA gene has been identified. The boundaries of this event are unknown as the deletion extends beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. Whole gene deletions encompassing the EDA gene has been reported in an individual affected with ectodermal dysplasia (PMID: 11378824). However, based on the methods described in this paper, it is unclear if this event encompassed the entire gene, nor whether it included additional neighboring genes. Loss-of-function variants in EDA are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 9683615). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
