Pathogenic for Duchenne muscular dystrophy — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000023.11:g.(?_32438221)_(32614473_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is an out-of-frame deletion of the genomic region encompassing exons 12-29 of the DMD gene. This is expected to create a premature translational stop signal and result in an absent or disrupted protein product. Similar deletions of DMD exons 12-29 have been reported in several individuals affected with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (PMID: 19367636, 17253928, 21515508). Loss-of-function variants in DMD are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 16770791, 25007885). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
