Pathogenic for Cystic fibrosis — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000007.14:g.(?_117587719)_(117587867_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is an out-of-frame deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon 12 of the CFTR gene. This is expected to create a premature translational stop signal and result in an absent or disrupted protein product. A gross deletion encompassing exon 12 has been reported as in combination with another CFTR variant in an individual affected with cystic fibrosis (PMID: 26708955). Exon 12 is also known as exon 11 in the literature based on legacy nomenclature. Loss-of-function variants in CFTR are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 1695717, 7691345, 9725922). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
