This variant lies in the BMPR1A gene (transcript NM_004329.3) at coding-DNA position 356, where G is replaced by A; at the protein level this means replaces arginine at residue 119 with histidine — a missense variant. Submitter rationale: The p.R119H variant (also known as c.356G>A), located in coding exon 4 of the BMPR1A gene, results from a G to A substitution at nucleotide position 356. The arginine at codon 119 is replaced by histidine, an amino acid with highly similar properties. A different alteration affecting this amino acid, p.R119C, has been reported in one familial juvenile polyposis syndrome kindred (Aretz S et al. J Med Genet. 2007 Nov;44(11):702-9).
