Pathogenic for Hereditary breast ovarian cancer syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000017.11:g.(?_43063327)_(43063379_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): Loss-of-function variants including gross deletions in BRCA1 are known to be pathogenic. A deletion of exon 18 has been reported in the literature in an individual with breast and ovarian cancer (PMID: 18546071). Exon 18 is also known as exon 19 in the literature. For this reason, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. This variant is an out-of-frame gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon 18 of the BRCA1 gene. This creates a premature translational stop signal and is expected to result in an absent or disrupted protein product.
