Pathogenic — the classification assigned by GeneDx to NM_001368894.2(PAX6):c.836G>A (p.Trp279Ter), citing GeneDx Variant Classification (06012015): The W265X nonsense variant in the PAX6 gene has been reported previously in association with aniridia (Vincent et al., 2003; Robinson et al., 2008; Bobilev et al., 2015). The variant is not observed in large population cohorts (Lek et al., 2016). This pathogenic variant is predicted to cause loss of normal protein function either through protein truncation or nonsense-mediated mRNA decay.
