This variant lies in the STK11 gene (transcript NM_000455.5) at the canonical splice donor site of the intron immediately after coding-DNA position 1108, where G is replaced by A; at the protein level this means a change at this position may disrupt normal splicing. Submitter rationale: The c.1108+1G>A intronic variant results from a G to A substitution one nucleotide after coding exon 8 of the STK11 gene. This alteration occurs at the 3' terminus of the STK11 gene, is not expected to trigger nonsense-mediated mRNA decay, and impacts the last 29.5% of the protein. The exact functional effect of this alteration is unknown. This nucleotide position is highly conserved in available vertebrate species.
