NC_000002.11:g.(?_112767580)_(112770634_?)del was classified as Pathogenic by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. This variant has been observed in individual(s) with clinical features of retinitis pigmentosa (Invitae). In at least one individual the data is consistent with being in trans (on the opposite chromosome) from a pathogenic variant. This variant results in the deletion of part of exon 15 (c.2016_2079+2991del) of the MERTK gene. It is expected to disrupt RNA splicing. Variants that disrupt the donor or acceptor splice site typically lead to a loss of protein function (PMID: 16199547), and loss-of-function variants in MERTK are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 24265693, 29659094).
