Pathogenic — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000003.11:g.(?_193207380)_(193409916_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the OPA1 gene has been identified. Loss-of-function variants in OPA1 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 11440988, 20157015, 20952381, 25012220). The boundaries of this event are unknown as they extend beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with autosomal dominant optical atrophy (PMID: 12161614, 21457585). It has also been observed to segregate with disease in related individuals. For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
