Pathogenic for Cystic fibrosis — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000007.13:g.(?_116165117)_(117307162_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the CFTR gene has been identified. Loss-of-function variants in CFTR are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 1695717, 7691345, 9725922). The boundaries of this event are unknown as they extend beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with cystic fibrosis (PMID: 11781704, 15520400). In at least one individual the data is consistent with being in trans (on the opposite chromosome) from a pathogenic variant. For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
