Pathogenic for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 4; Spinocerebellar ataxia, autosomal recessive, with axonal neuropathy 2 — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000009.11:g.(?_135171239)_(135187263_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. This variant is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon(s) 11-15 of the SETX gene. This deletion is out-of-frame, and is expected to create a premature termination codon and result in an absent or disrupted protein product. Loss-of-function variants in SETX are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 14770181). A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with autosomal recessive spinocerebellar ataxia (PMID: 26811093).
