NC_000018.9:g.(?_58038584)_(58040587_?)del was classified as Pathogenic by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. Isolated whole-gene deletions of MC4R have not been reported in the literature. However, larger copy number events that include this gene have been reported (PMID: 25747306, 27738543). A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the MC4R gene has been identified. Loss-of-function variants in MC4R are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 10903343, 12646665, 19091795). The boundaries of this event are unknown as they extend beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes.
