Pathogenic for Niemann-Pick disease, type C1 — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000018.9:g.(?_20516815)_(21534612_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with clinical features of Niemann‚ÄìPick disease, type C (PMID: 20718790). A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the NPC1 gene has been identified. Loss-of-function variants in NPC1 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 9211850). The boundaries of this event are unknown as they extend beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes.
