A presumed nomenclature of c.(53+1_54-1)_(164+1_165-1)dup has been designated for the purposes of this classification. It is assumed to be a tandem duplication in direct orientation (Richardson_GIM_2018, Newman_AJHG_2015). This Copy Number Variant (CNV) is predicted to result in an in-frame duplication within this gene. The variant was absent in 21694 control chromosomes. The available data on variant occurrences in the general population are insufficient to allow any conclusion about variant significance. c.(53+1_54-1)_(164+1_165-1)dup has been reported in the literature in individuals affected with Cystic Fibrosis. These data indicate that the variant is likely to be associated with disease. To our knowledge, no experimental evidence demonstrating an impact on protein function has been reported.
