Submitter rationale: This sequence change replaces methionine, which is neutral and non-polar, with valine, which is neutral and non-polar, at codon 1053 of the CRB1 protein (p.Met1053Val). This variant is present in population databases (rs763369093, gnomAD 0.003%). This missense change has been observed in individuals with retinitis pigmentosa (PMID: 23379534).
