Submitter rationale: This variant is present in population databases (rs3026383, gnomAD 0.006%), including at least one homozygous and/or hemizygous individual. This sequence change replaces aspartic acid, which is acidic and polar, with glutamic acid, which is acidic and polar, at codon 196 of the PAX6 protein (p.Asp196Glu).
