Pathogenic for Angelman syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000015.9:g.(?_25584284)_(25585395_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with Angelman syndrome (PMID: 29162042). In at least one individual the variant was observed to be de novo. This variant is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon(s) 9-10 of the UBE3A gene, which includes the termination codon. This deletion extends beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. While this deletion is not anticipated to lead to nonsense mediated decay, it is expected to alter mRNA translation or result in a truncated protein product.
