Pathogenic — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000010.10:g.(?_15686009)_(15686240_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon(s) 13 of the ITGA8 gene. This variant would be expected to be in-frame, preserving the integrity of the reading frame. For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. This variant disrupts a region of the ITGA8 protein in which other variant(s) (p.Gly407Arg) have been determined to be pathogenic (PMID: 24439109). This suggests that this is a clinically significant region of the protein, and that variants that disrupt it are likely to be disease-causing. This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with ITGA8-related conditions.
