NM_003850.3(SUCLA2):c.479G>A (p.Arg160Gln) was classified as Likely pathogenic by GeneDx, citing GeneDx Variant Classification (06012015): p.Arg160Gln (CGA>CAA): c.479 G>A in exon 4 of the SUCLA2 gene (NM_003850.2) A R160Q variant that is likely pathogenic was identified in the SUCLA2 gene. It has not been published as a mutation, nor has it been reported as a benign polymorphism to our knowledge. The R160Q variant is a semi-conservative amino acid substitution, which may impact secondary protein structure as these residues differ in some properties. This substitution occurs at a position that is highly conserved across species. In silico analysis predicts this variant is probably damaging to the protein structure/function. Therefore, this variant is a strong candidate for a pathogenic mutation, however the possibility that it is a benign variant cannot be excluded. The variant is found in MITONUC-MITOP panel(s).
