The exact breakpoint at the 3' end of this variant is unknown, therefore this duplication may extend downstream of the annotated region of the gene. As it duplicates the termination codon, its effect on the encoded protein is unknown. A presumed nomenclature of c.(2630+1_2631-1)_(*2158_?)dup has been designated for the purposes of this classification. A variant involving the duplication of exons 27-31 together with a large (~6 kbp) DNA segment extending downstream of the gene was found at a frequency of 4.6e-05 (i.e. one allele) in 21694 control chromosomes in the gnomAD database, structural variants dataset. The available data on variant occurrences in the general population are insufficient to allow any conclusion about variant significance.
