Submitter rationale: This sequence change replaces glutamine with proline at codon 419 of the CNGA1 protein (p.Gln419Pro). The glutamine residue is highly conserved and there is a moderate physicochemical difference between glutamine and proline. This variant is not present in population databases (ExAC no frequency). This missense change has been observed in individual(s) with clinical features of retinitis pigmentosa (Invitae). In at least one individual the data is consistent with the variant being in trans (on the opposite chromosome) from a pathogenic variant.
