Pathogenic for Bardet-Biedl syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000016.9:g.(?_56534756)_(56545206_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. This variant has not been reported in the literature in individuals affected with BBS2-related conditions. This variant is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon(s) 3-11 of the BBS2 gene. This deletion is out-of-frame, and is expected to create a premature translational stop signal and result in an absent or disrupted protein product. Loss-of-function variants in BBS2 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 11285252, 20177705, 24608809, 26518167).
