Pathogenic for Melnick-Fraser syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000008.10:g.(?_72111575)_(72267140_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): A gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing the full coding sequence of the EYA1 gene has been identified. Loss-of-function variants in EYA1 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 10464653, 18220287). The boundaries of this event are unknown as they extend beyond the assayed region for this gene and therefore may encompass additional genes. A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with clinical features of Branchiootorenal syndrome (PMID: 31427586). It has also been observed to segregate with disease in related individuals. For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
