Experimental studies are conflicting or provide insufficient evidence to determine the effect of this variant on GH1 function (PMID: 19458138). This variant is also known as p.Asp116Glu. This missense change has been observed in individual(s) with autosomal recessive growth hormone deficiency (PMID: 19458138). In at least one individual the data is consistent with being in trans (on the opposite chromosome) from a pathogenic variant. This variant is present in population databases (rs768585995, gnomAD 0.06%). This sequence change replaces aspartic acid, which is acidic and polar, with glutamic acid, which is acidic and polar, at codon 142 of the GH1 protein (p.Asp142Glu).
