Pathogenic for Hereditary breast ovarian cancer syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000017.10:g.(?_41215238)_(41258921_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic. While this particular variant has not been reported in the literature, truncating sequence changes in BRCA1 are known to be pathogenic (PMID:¬†20104584). This deletion causes a translational frameshift and is expected to result in an absent or disrupted protein product This sequence change is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exons 4-18 of the BRCA1 gene.¬†This deletion extends to both edges of the assayed region, and the 5' and 3' boundaries of this event are not known.
