Pathogenic for Alstrom syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000002.11:g.(?_73777384)_(73800561_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is a gross deletion of the genomic region encompassing exon(s) 13-16 of the ALMS1 gene. This deletion is out-of-frame, and is expected to create a premature termination codon and result in an absent or disrupted protein product. Loss-of-function variants in ALMS1 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 17594715). A similar copy number variant has been observed in individual(s) with Alstrom syndrome (PMID: 25846608, 26285675). It has also been observed to segregate with disease in related individuals. For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
