Pathogenic for Hereditary breast ovarian cancer syndrome — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000013.10:g.(?_32936640)_(32937690_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is an out-of-frame deletion of the genomic region encompassing exons 17-18 of the BRCA2 gene. This is expected to create a premature translational stop signal and result in an absent or disrupted protein product. Deletion of exons 17-18 has been reported in an individual affected with breast cancer (PMID: 16199546). Loss-of-function variants in BRCA2 are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 20104584). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
