Pathogenic — the classification assigned by Labcorp Genetics (formerly Invitae), Labcorp to NC_000001.10:g.(?_216495225)_(216500996_?)del, citing Invitae Variant Classification Sherloc (09022015): This variant is an out-of-frame deletion of the genomic region encompassing exons 5-9 of the USH2A gene. This is expected to create a premature translational stop signal and result in an absent or disrupted protein product. This variant has been observed in a family affected with retinitis pigmentosa (PMID: 25352746). Loss-of-function variants in USH2A are known to be pathogenic (PMID: 10729113, 10909849, 20507924, 25649381). For these reasons, this variant has been classified as Pathogenic.
