Description

The KIF1B c.2993G>A variant is predicted to result in the amino acid substitution p.Ser998Asn. To our knowledge, this variant has not been reported in the literature. This variant is reported in 0.024% of alleles in individuals of African descent in gnomAD (http://gnomad.broadinstitute.org/variant/1-10397133-G-A) and has conflicting interpretations regarding it pathogenicity in ClinVar, ranging from uncertain significance to likely benign (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/clinvar/variation/1489493/). At this time, the clinical significance of this variant is uncertain due to the absence of conclusive functional and genetic evidence.
