Appendix CLiterature Flow Diagram for Guiding Question 3

Appendix C is a literature flow diagram depicting the search and selection of articles for Guiding Question 3. The diagram shows that 5,892 abstracts of potentially relevant articles were identified through literature database searches. 475 full text articles were reviewed after excluding 5,417 abstracts that did not meet inclusion criteria. From the full text articles reviewed, 153 were background articles, 12 (in 41 publications) were on medication-assisted treatment models of care, and 257 were excluded for Guiding Question 3 for the following reasons: 5 wrong population, 22 wrong intervention, 22 wrong outcome, 1 wrong comparator, 83 wrong study design, 21 not a study, 1 no English language, 39 wrong setting, 33 drugs only, and 30 covered by a systematic review. 17 trials (in 19 publications) and 11 systematic reviews were included for Guiding Question 3.
