    • Robert V. Lang, Major, US Army   becomes   Robert V. Lang
  • Omit rank and honors such as Colonel or Sir that precede a name, unless no given name is provided
    • Sir Frances Hildebrand   becomes   Frances Hildebrand
    • Dr. Jane Eberhard   becomes   Jane Eberhard
    • Captain R.C. Williams   becomes   R.C. Williams
    • but
    • Dr. Morton   remains   Dr. Morton
    • Major Robertson   remains   Major Robertson
