Figure 2Neutralizaton of endogenous IL-6 inhibits endotoxin-induced coagulation activation in chimpanzees in vivo, while not influencing activation of fibrinolysis

IL-6 activity was eliminated by infusion of an anti-IL-6 mAb (aIL-6); control animals received endotoxin only (LPS). Coagulation activation was monitored by measurement of the F1+2 prothrombin fragment and thrombin-antithrombin (TAT) complexes (upper panels). Activation of fibrinolysis was monitored by measurement of plasmin-a1-antiplasmin (PAP) complexes.
